The International 12

TI12 will feature 20 teams from around the world, competing for a prize pool currently estimated around 2.8 million. The tournament will be divided into two stages: the Group Stage and the Main Stage.

In the Group Stage, the 20 teams will be divided into two groups of 10 teams each. The top four teams from each group will advance to the Main Stage, while the bottom two teams from each group will be eliminated.

The Main Stage will be a single-elimination bracket, with the best-of-three matches until the Grand Finals. The Grand Finals will be a best-of-five match, with the winning team claiming the Aegis of Champions and the lion’s share of the prize pool.

TI12 is one of the most prestigious and anticipated esports events in the world. It is a must-watch for any Dota 2 fan.

Group Stage

  • October 12-15, 2023
  • Four groups of five teams each
  • Single round-robin
  • All series are Bo2
  • Top two teams in each group advance to Phase Two
  • Bottom team in each group is eliminated

Phase Two

  • Remaining 16 teams play eight Bo3 head-to-head matches to determine main event bracket placement

Main Event

  • October 20-22 (Playoffs Weekend) and October 27-29 (Finals Weekend), 2023
  • Sixteen teams play in a double-elimination bracket
  • Eight teams begin in the Upper Bracket, eight in the Lower Bracket
  • Grand Final is Bo5, all other series are Bo3

Changes from TI11

  • The group stage has been expanded from two groups of 10 teams to four groups of five teams. This will allow for more teams to advance to Phase Two and the Main Event.
  • The format of Phase Two has been changed from a single round-robin to a Bo3 head-to-head format. This will make Phase Two more exciting and unpredictable.
  • The Main Event will now be held over two weekends instead of one. This will give players and fans more time to rest and recover between matches.
